Hi sports fans, my training over the last 2 weeks has been minimal to say the least.
First up…the week commencing the 19th of September:
After overreaching for 2 weeks before this I then had a well deserved (and much needed deload).
I only did one weights session. I had planned on two but, felt so awful that I wimped out and kept it to one. I did thi on Monday. Here is how it looked:
A Squats, 1xw2, 1×5 (felt & moved like crap)
B Bench Press, 1×3, 2×5 – I actually hit some decent numbers on these but, the warm-ups felt terrible. At this point I came pretty close to binning the whole session. But you can always bench, right?!
C Cable Row, 2×8, unlike the rest of the session these actually felt pretty good
D Calf Raise, 2×8
E DB Lateral Raise, 2×12
F Seated Hammer Curls, 2×8
G Rope French Press, 2×8
A session survived rather than thrived upon. A feeling of ‘meh’ was about as good as it got.
I had planned on doing an upper body session on Thursday too. This was not happening! I felt fatigued and had a headache for 2 days. The perfect storm of overreaching/training and a bug getting me I think.
All I did the rest of the week was 3 very easy spins of 20-30mins.
Then on Sunday…
I did a very hilly 40km bike ride as part of a team triathlon. Having not actually been out on a bike in preparation for this I was by no means race ready. The hills kicked my ass!
Anyway, I got round and felt relieved when it was over.
Monday- tell me why I bloody love Mondays…
26th September and I was off on my Jollibobs for a week with Sally and the kids.
We had a fantastic time and I didn’t set foot in the gym the entire time.
Upon our return I was itching to get back to it. The upshot of that enthusiasm will be played out next week in the 8th edition of the Daily Grind and over the course of the next 12 weeks as I finish off 2016 strong.
